Background The Simon Car...  moreMission The Simon Carrington chamber Singers – a world-class choral music ensemble led by renowned artistic director Simon Carrington – engages and enriches audiences through concerts, recordings and educational programs. Background The Simon Carrington chamber Singers (SCCS), led by artistic director Simon Carrington, is a world class choral music ensemble based in Kansas City. The group was founded in 2008 by three of Carrington’s former students who shared the desire to form an elite professional vocal chamber ensemble under his direction. SCCS, an ensemble of 24 singers, performs a diverse and challenging repertoire that spans the ages. The group showcases a unique sound that reflects Carrington’s musical sensibilities: a clear, bright tone with a measured use of vibrato which allows a clear and expressive delivery of the text. The ensemble performs with Jon Washburn and the Vancouver chamber Choir on three or four concert programmes each season and also presents one or two independent concerts with its own conductor. Pacifica Singers provides an ideal performance venue for experienced and motivated choral singers whose goal is to make music at a very high level. By providing direct exposure to the world of professional music making, it is an experience of great value for singers intending to make a career in music. Current members live throughout the lower mainland, with many serving as conductors, music educators, and/or professional singers in their communities.  less

As the premiere chorale ensemble at OSU, the OSU chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, the choir received the Grand Prize at the Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, the chamber Choir was selected as the only collegiate mixed choir from outside of the state of Utah to perform at the 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City. The choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, the first choir allowed to perform in the monastery in decades. The choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their participation in different musical projects. The present line-up has been steady since 2006. Their repertoire offers a variety of styles of great difficulty and chromatic richness, and tries to take advantage of the cultural and geographic circumstances which make of the Canary Islands a multicultural place. A remarkable feature of the group is their willingness to inNovate within the choral music. Aimed mainly at singers in the "young professional" category, it is for people who are looking for a choir with a difference - a great social atmosphere and a challenging, varied repertoire. An auditioned choir of around 25 members, Tamesis is a high-standard choir, capable of singing 8-part repertoire on a few rehearsals and having fun while doing it! We've just recorded our second CD which will be released in Autumn 2012.
