The Choir has performed throughout Scotland and beyond, with music covering all periods and most styles. Critically acclaimed, and attracting capacity audiences, at the Edinburgh Fringe and elsewhere, the Choir is regularly invited to perform at prominent events and has been broadcast on BBC Radio (3, 4 and Scotland) and Classic FM. Cadenza’s most recent CD - Bright Star: Cadenza at Christmas – was reviewed in Classical Music Magazine and included in Breakfast on 3’s Advent Calendar in December 2013. Jenny Sumerling became Musical Director in 2000 and under her direction Cadenza has gone from strength to strength. Ben Parry, Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain has been Cadenza’s Patron since 2003. Under the direction of its founder, artistic director and conductor Silvester Hajnal, the Choir managed to attain great reputation in the country and abroad in a short period of time. The Choir’s repertoire includes the works of both Yugoslav and foreign composers, from early renaissance to contemporary authors. We were founded in 1928 and perform two major concerts a year in addition to our annual appearance at the Leith Hill Musical Festival in the Spring, as well as regular Christmas charity concerts and other activities.  

We are a friendly, non-auditioning, Mixed voice Choir of around 60 singers from Didcot and surrounding villages. We perform a wide range of music throughout the year and we're committed to contributing to the cultural life of our area. There is no need to audition, just to love singing!
