Formed in 1956 as The Derby Police Choir, The choir retained a long-standing connection with The Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when The choir separated from The police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising ...  moreFormed in 1956 as The Derby Police Choir, The choir retained a long-standing connection with The Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when The choir separated from The police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising money for charity- epitomised through charity registration in 2020. DCMVC rehearses Mondays 7:30-9:30pm at St Osmund's Church, London Road Derby. The choir is also available to book for events. For more information, see our website.

The choir delights in introducing new songs that are connected by Their unique choral sound, raTher than from a particular genre and it is this wide appeal and Their sense of fun that has meant The group is in constant demand and continually attracts new members. Even in its early days The choir never quite conformed to The accepted norms of what should be included in Their repertoire. Their confidence, infectious enthusiasm and passionate singing make Them enchanting to watch. The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and The choice of music reflects this, with The repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from The 1930s to today, as well as classic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical Theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's.
