We perform with professi...  moreFounded in 1993, Exeter Festival Chorus has gained a reputation as one of the liveliest and most adventurous choirs in the South West. EFC is a choir of around 75 singers, attracting People from all parts of the South West region. We perform with professional orchestras and soloists, and aim to bring choral music of the highest quality to our audiences. Under the inspired and dynamic musical direction of Nigel Perrin, EFC has become one of the region’s most versatile and highly acclaimed choral groups. We provide a broad range of music for our audiences, covering a great variety of genres and periods; we revisit standard works within the choral repertoire and explore new challenges from the contemporary musical scene. We started this choir in our neighborhood to give regular People the chance to sing and learn from professionals. We began rehearsals in the fall of 2018 for a holiday show that we performed at a neighborhood block party, and special guest JoAnne Worley c...  moreWe started this choir in our neighborhood to give regular People the chance to sing and learn from professionals. We began rehearsals in the fall of 2018 for a holiday show that we performed at a neighborhood block party, and special guest JoAnne Worley came and performed with us. Everyone had such a good time, we decided to continue on the following spring. If it catches on, we hope to get our nonprofit status.  

Our society is a real opportunity for People to get the most from singing. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sin...  moreOur society is a real opportunity for People to get the most from singing. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The choir works with musically trained People and singers entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all choirs however we need more singers to keep the choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to People who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move.
