Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging backgrou...  moreNational Choir of The Year 2012 The Tullamore Academy Chamber Choir was founded in September 2007 as part of a performing group’s initiative undertaken by The Academy of Music in Tullamore. Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances the choir’s ability to undertake some of the more challenging choral works and contributes to their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of the Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They then went on to win 1st place in the Early Music, 1st place in the Irish Language and 2nd place in the Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest choral competition featuring over 400 choirs. We rehearse once a week on Wednesdays near Great World City and perform at local venues and AWA events. We are a happy bunch who love to sing and would welcome you into our International Choir. There are no official auditions, we simply assess your range for the group. It was founded in 1936 as the Dow Male Chorus with membership from the men of the Dow Chemical Company. In 1961, Dow discontinued its Music Department and the chorus became the Men of Music and along with the rest of the Dow Music Department formed The Music Society under director Ted Vosburgh. Since then there were several women directors who continued to lead the chorus. The Men of Music continues today providing excellant men's four part harmony with our present very talented director, Grace Marra, who joined the chorus in 1994. We also appreciate the talents of Laurie Habedank who serves as our accompanist.  less

Viele Besonderheiten des Chores, Hintergründe in Pädagogik, Stimmzusammensetzung und Repertoire finden ihren Ursprung in der Arbeit der großen Chorpädagogin Edith Möller. Die musikalische Gesamtleitung liegt in den Händen von Stephanie Feindt.
