The translation is by Francesco Campelli on CPDL The performance was created in memory of the late Richard Gofton, who introduced me to the music back in 1976 (Our Strasbourg Choir Psalterion performed it at that time)

This version is based on that by the Golden Gate Quartet, the most successful of all of the African-American gospel music groups who sang in the jubilee quartet style. Formed in 1934 the group remains active today, although with no original members.
