As The introduction states, Eric Whitacre's famous "Sleep" was originally composed to Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", but when Whitacre realized The Frost estate was not releasing permission for musical settings of The poem, Charles Silvestri wrote The poem "Sleep" around The music Whitacre had written. To honor The inspiration The poem gave Mr. Whitacre, and to furTher honor all poets who inspire choral composers, we presented this beloved piece with The original Frost lyrics.  less

This piece was presented in The second half of The program, representing The changing seasons, which paralleled The changing moods and textures in The piece's three mini movements.

The Quartet members describe Themselves as artists of improvisation who break out of The conventional vocabulary of sound for a string quartet. Most pieces on this CD were written especially for The Sonux Ensemble, and thus composed to The singers' strengths. "We have worked on These pieces togeTher with The composers, and given Them Their first performances over The course of The last five years. This disc features only world premiere recordings and, literally, unheard of choral music, " The choir's director Hans-Joachim Lustig notes.
