The verses build on one another, carrying the same theme throughout: first raising the questions we have about our pain and sorrow, and then answering those questions with assurance of God's power and Love.
This is a hymn that acknowledges the pain we experience in life, and then assures us of the comfort we have in Christ.

I Love the tempo, phrasing, rubato and expressiveness. The paraphrase of Psalm 121 is mine. I wrote this as My way of dealing with the loss of two choir members who both suddenly died the first year I was in Montana. It was My way of turning to the psalms for prayer. The recent pictures were taken in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

The school's choir became very successful in the mid-1980s, winning many competitions including the Llangollen Eisteddfod. When school was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing together as a choir, and the group's achievements included reaching the semi-finals of Sainsbury's Choir of the Year and appearing on Opportunity Knocks.
In the 1990's, the choir moved to Harrow and officially became known as Jubilate. Sarah Stroh took over as Musical Director in 1999 and since then the choir has grown significantly, doubling in size to its current membership of 43. There are still some original members of the choir, who have been singing together for more than 25 years.
Our recent competition successes include winning the Barnardo's National Choir competition in March 2013 and the ladies choir, folk and popular music classes and runner-up with distinction in the Sacred music class in the 2012 Mid-Somerset Festival. We came fourth at the prestigious Interna... less
