Their philanthropic mission of Nashville Singers is to provide funding and support for music education in our schools and the community. The singers are all volunteers, range in age from teenagers to retirees and travel from five different counties throughout Middle Tennessee to be a part of the chorus. Ensemble Laude is a community of women united by a passion for choral music and the vision of our Artistic Director, Elizabeth MacIsaac. We celebrate the beauty and resilience of women’s vocal traditions through the ages and seek to share this art form through joyful, soulful, and life-enhancing performances that gladden the heart, lift the spirit, and expand the mind. Ensemble Laude began in 1998 with a group of 12 singers focused solely on medieval music. It has since expanded into a vibrant community choir of over 50 vocalists. Tra$h Ma$h is a piece made up entirely of musical quotes lifted directly from modern pop songs and mashed together using the Tippet technique (perfect for our 21st century attention spans!) Deep down, I love trashy pop, and the singers in The Australian Voices are mostly under 21. We had a whole lot of parties to find the best (and worst) songs of 2011 to mash together in a kind of 60's disjunct treatment of pop, chopping it up and sticking it back together in a way that was never intended.
