This piece was first debuted by the Girl Choir of South Florida as part of the festival chorus at the Keynote Arts Festival in June 2006.
From breakfast on through all the day
At home among my friends I stay,
But every night I go abroad
Afar into the land of Nod.
All by myself I have to go,
With none to tell me what to do —
All alone beside the streams
and up the mountain-sides of dreams.
The strangest things are there for me,
Both things to eat and things to see,
and many frightening sights abroad
Till morning in the land of Nod.
Try as I like to find the way,
I never can get back by day,
Nor can remember plain and clear
The curious music that I hear. ink" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Let us walk in the white snow
in a soundless space;
With footsteps quiet and slow,
At a tranquil pace,
Under veils of white lace.
I shall go shod in silk,
and you in wool,
White as white cow's milk,
More beautiful
Than the breast of a gull.
We shall walk through the still town
in a windless peace;
We shall step upon white down,
Upon silver fleece,
Upon softer than these.
We shall walk in velvet shoes:
Wherever we go
Silence will fall like dews
On white silence below.
We shall walk in the snow. ink" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Fairest little lady,
It’s time to close your eyes
Go to sleep, dream sweet dreams,
Oh, my fairest lady.
Golden slumbers kiss your eyes.
Smiles awake you when you arise.
Fairest little lady,
It’s time to close your eyes
Go to sleep, dream sweet dreams,
Oh, my fairest baby.
London Bridge
will fly away, fly away, fly away.

Cold may lie the day,
and bare of grace;
At night I slip away
To the Singing Place.
A border of mist and doubt
Before the gate,
and the Dancing Stars grow still
As hushed I wait.
Then faint and far away
I catch the beat
in broken rhythm and rhyme
of joyous feet,—
Lifting waves of sound
That will rise and swell
(If the prying eyes of thought
Break not the spell),
Rise and swell and retreat
and fall and flee,
As over the edge of sleep
They beckon me.
and I wait as the seaweed waits
For the lifting tide;
To ask would be to awake,—
To be denied.
I cloud my eyes in the mist
