This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' Concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militaristic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a list of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are mistress, master, priest, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, Christians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecstatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. The style of singing is more 'pop' than cLassical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930...  Lass="view_more_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getNext().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">moreLass="view_more" style="display:none;">We are a group of women singing a cappella four-part harmony music arranged in barbershop style. The style of singing is more 'pop' than cLassical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930s to today, as well as cLassic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's.
