Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, weddings and services throughout Staffordshire and The West Midlands, and guest appearances at oTher caThedrals. The Choir has a versatile repertoire of sacred and secular music ranging from The Renaissance to The contemporary, and it enjoys The challenge of new and experimental writing. This smallest and most select of The Hofstra Choirs comprises The best singers at The University, both within and outside The Department of Music, and focuses on The distinct art of unaccompanied, or a cappella, ensemble singing, presented in carefully chosen performance spaces that are uniquely attuned to celebrate The human voice's potential. From an educational standpoint, The ensemble serves two main functions for The University. Since our first concert in 1995, Orpheus has presented a multi-concert subscription series each year to great critical acclaim. Orpheus has performed throughout The Dallas-Fort Worth area at venues including The regional conference of The American Choral Directors Association, The Dallas Museum of Art, The Kimbell Museum of Art, UT-Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center-Dallas, and numerous public schools.
