The second movement features the words of a Scottish poet, William Dunbar (c. 1460-c.1520), In which he praises the English capital, and Includes the lIne 'London, thou art the flower of cities all'. Together, these settIngs evoke a surprisIngly contemporary impression of London's sights, sounds, and moods, InspirIng some irresistible music, by turns contemplative and unquenchably thrillIng.
