Our program consists of 5 Choirs; Chorale, Women's Ensemble, Concert Choir, Bella Voce and Chamber Singers. We also have C.A.P. (Contemporary A Cappella Project), Women's Octet, and the Innuendos. The last three are co-curricular and the last two are student directed.

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a Project in which he joined the Choir in ...  moreComposer/pianist Ola Gjeilo joins the CWU Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director) in presenting Gjeilo's "Northern LIghts". In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a Project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his composition "Northern Lights"-- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the Project was entitled "In the Moment". The other composition to which he created an improvised accompaniment was "Ubi Caritas". He also accompanied the Choir on "The Ground", which includes CWU's resident faculty quartet -- the Kairos String Quartet. We have sung this song in another arrangement many times in concert with Steve Knightley and Show Of Hands. This new version by Kirsten Pagel, is for a female quartet, with rich dark harmonies and a tender, aching feel. We dedicate it to all who have passed through war, both in the past and unfortunately now, in the present. We also sing it for those within our communities that have recently lost a loved one. It has been such a difficult time to be grieving. We sing it for you to remember the best times, the friendship and the comradery and most of all, for the love that you shared together.
