We welcom...  moreThe J Singers combine singing ‘seriously for pleasure’ with performing charity fund-raising concerts throughout the county of Somerset. We sing a varied mix of music from traditional ballads and songs from the West End shows, to popular numbers. We welcome new adult members with or without prior choral experience. You do need some musical ability, but it's not essential to read music. Rehearsals are in Wembdon, near Bridgwater, on a Tuesday evening.

At present the choir has 34 members. The group’s repertoire is very eclectic: from spirituals to sacred polyphony, from pop music to regional and international folk songs. The ensemble has performed in many beautiful churches and other landmarks in Rome and in Central Italy, with concerts in the most important concert halls in the capital city and festivals in many wonderful villas and palaces scattered around the countryside near Rome. In 2007 and 2009 the choir participated with great enthusiasm in the International Choir Festival in Val Pusteria. In the 2010 regional choir contest at Formello the choir came first in the pop category and second in the category for choral music from the 20th and 21st centuries. This traditional Welsh hymn was arranged for male voice choir by John Tudor Davies, words by Ieuan Gwyllt. Bois Goetre-hen are a new male choir covering the lower Llynfi Valley and Bridgend area, with a broad range of choristers and repertoire. This concert took place in Aberkenfig Bible Church- a fantastic venue near Bridgend.  

musica is an un-auditioned, community choir. We sing everything from Schubert to Gospel. We love to challenge ourselves and try new things. We come together every week because we LOVE to make music together and we love the way singing makes us feel :)

Our purpose is “to Sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of othe...  moreThe Richmond Singers is a 55 voice women’s choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to Sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our musical season (September – June), the choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors. We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps.
