Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances The choir’s ability to undertake some of The more challenging Choral works and contributes to Their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of The Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They Then went on to win 1st place in The Early Music, 1st place in The Irish Language and 2nd place in The Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest Choral competition featuring over 400 choirs. We are specifically aimed at experienced singers who want to work quickly in a non-regular rehearsal setting. Imagine a Book Club for Choral singers! Each session every two or three weeks, we will look at a couple of new songs, chosen by differend members of The group, from The whole history of music, form Monvererdi to Madness. We have two experienced conductor/singers who will be happy to lead any session, but all singers will be encouraged to lead Their own song choices if They wish. The aim, in The first intance, is to have fun exploring as much Choral repertoire as possible, in a fun and collaborative enviroment. We do not intend to book up concerts straight away - once we've had a few meetings and looked at enough repertoire Then we'll think about performances. Let's work to get The music right first!
