Does he want to kiss me? I’d give all the czar’s treasure for it." This concert was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. Usually eight songs are learnt in six two-hour sessions and in the winter are performed at St. Peters by the Waterfront, Ipswich. http://chrisrowbury.com  is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Rupert the Chocolate Angel
video: Rupert the Chocolate Angel

This was written as an ironic parody response to that Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer song we sing every year! (Rudolphus Rubrinasus syndrome!) (Note: the score has a slightly more ornamented piano part than this performance)

Those evening bells! Those evening bells! How many a tale their music tells of youth, and home and that sweet time, When last I heard their soothing chime. Those joyous hours are past away, And many a heart that then was gay Within the tomb now darkly dwells And hears no more these evening bells. And so 'twill be when I am gone; That tuneful peal will still ring on while other bards will walk these dells, and sing your praise, sweet evening bells.  is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Of a Rose, a lovely Rose Monteverdichor Würzburg Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt Matthias Beckert (cond.) Live recording from december 4th, 2011 in the Neubaukirche, Würzburg, Germany. Of a Rose, a lovely Rose, Of a Rose is all My song. Hearken to me, both old and young, How this Rose began to spring; A fairer Rose to mine liking In all this world ne know I none. Five branches of that Rose there been, The which be both fair and sheen; The Rose is called Mary, heaven's queen. Out of her bosom a blossom sprang. The first branch was of great honour: That blest Marie should bear the flow'r; There came an angel from heaven's tower To break the devil's bond. The second branch was great of might, That sprang upon Christmas night; The star shone over Bethlem bright, That man should see it both day and night. The third branch did spring and spread; Three kinges then the branch gan led Unto Our Lady in her child-bed; Into Bet...    is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less
