We began with the singular purpose of ministry and spreading the Gospel. ​Since incorporation, NGGC now operates under two mandate objectives: to develop the professional and musical skills of young adults 20-30 years of age; and to bring Gospel music as a respected genre of music, along with its more evolved counterparts (Jazz and Classical music), in Canada. Gospel Music has served vitally in the development of all members who have joined NGGC. Our unique incorporation, interpretation, and delivery of this embodied form of art, has garnered multiple forms of support — like spectators; organizations; donors; and sponsors alike — granting us the ability to develop both the musical and professional skills of our members in tandem.  less

It consists of 27 members and a 5 piece band. Their ages range from 18 to 35 years and they are based in Kwazulu Natal. THE members of this Choir come from many different places around Zululand and 90% of them are unemployed. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES • The main aim of this Choir is to gather people who have the same vision together to produce good ‘live’ performances. Also to record strong material and spread the word of God through music. • To search for talent and make use of it in the most profitable way. • To create job opportunities for the youth. • To grow and develop artists in music. • To make a difference in people’s lives by creating job opportunities. WE audition artists who apply to us and then choose the very best. WE rehearse every weekend (Fridays and Saturdays) in Richards Bay. WE compose songs and also encourage Choir members to do the same. In Oct of 2008 I returned to the Jes church, the place I had grown up with my father running the folk mass Choir. He had retired 12 years previously. What was once a packed out mass full of joy and prayer, families and young couples, singles and religious, was now a quieter mass with no Choir and I saddened by this. I offered my services as a singer and musician to come and provide music for the 5:30 mass and within a few short weeks I returned to the place I consider my spiritual home. I had not purposely set out to start a Choir but people began to approach me with a desire to sing and it was a need within the community I was not going to Ignore. On the 12th Dec 2008 The Jes Gospel Choir was birthed with 5 singers and me & it was a wonderful experience and we received a very warm welcome.
