Its vision is to become the country's pr...  moreKORO ILUSTRADO, a Makati City-based all-male choral ensemble, was formed in October 2007 by a group of choral enthusiasts. It commits to significantly contribute to the nurturance of the country’s choral tradition. Its vision is to become the country's premiere all-male chorale, exemplifying the best of the Filipino: excellence, discipline and a flair for entertainment. Inspired by the global spirit and nationalistic dedication of the great ilustrado men during Spanish colonial times, the choir is slowly building a repertoire that includes the best of local and global all-male choral music. A member of the Madz et al network of choirs, it is composed of men who had extensive choral singing backgrounds through their college, church and community/parish choir experiences. The composition of members is unique in the international classical music world: all members are from one large family: six siblings between 8 and 21 years of ageand the two parents. Artistic leader: the parents, Zita and Vilmos Tóth, but the children also participate in creating musical conceptions and decisions. The parents have been singing in choirs since they were children and have participated in numerous competitions, festivals and courses. The children have also sung in choirs from an early age, usually singing solos. They study singing, musical theory and instrumental music. Our purpose is to promote the miracle of singing and music - that we owe so much - to people. With each passing year we strive to sing more and more beautiful compositions with a higher quality of performance. The Vocal Artists were grateful to be able to acknowledge the composer in attendance at this performance. Ave Virgo Sanctissima was performed as one of the compulsory pieces for the Tolosa Choral Contest, in which the Vocal Artists were awarded 4 First Prizes as well as the Prize of the Audience. We have a varied repertoire of well-known pop and Jazz songs, as well as the occasional folk song. A mixed choir or various age groups, we have regular concerts in the Berlin region, but also further afield, often abroad. The attached picture is from our 2014 concert at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. We are keen to hear from anyone who would like to sing with us, but also from other choirs interested in clubbing together with us for a concert or two.  less

As Turkiye's first Barbershop style Vocal ensemble, the qartet became the first Turkish member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The quartet has performed at various prestigious venues including Casa Botter, Akbank Sanat, BKM Mutfak, Pera Museum, Borusan Music House, Santa Maria Draperis Church, St. Pierre and St. Paul's Church. In 2017, they received an invitation from Harmony University - Quartet College in Nashville, USA, and became the first Turkish quartet to attend this annual Barbershop convention and performed to international audience. Barbershop Istanbul was greatly appreciated by the audience in Nashville, the birthplace of the genre, as well as in Turkiye. The quartet's repertoire includes not only classical Barbershop arrangements and Barbershop arrangements of popular music, but also Kaan Bayır's works of popular, traditional and classical turkish music arranged in Barbershop style.  less
