ANÚNA, is a unique and beautiful instrument that explores the stories of ordinary people, saints and scholars Within the songs are universal stories that are told through the landscape, the philosophy and the mythology of Ireland and beyond. Anúna created the vocal ambience of Riverdance (1994-1996), achieved a Top 10 placing on the U.K. Singles Charts while remaining at Number 1 on the Irish singles charts for eighteen weeks. In 2012 they appeared as the "Voices of Hell"on the video game Diablo 3 [Blizzard] gaining a Game Audio Network Guild nomination for the Best Original Choral performance in February 2013. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland.
