Music from every music epoch will be performed from serious to more pop/contemporary a cappella forms. This ensemble is offered every fall and spring semester, and satisfies the fine arts requirement when enrolled for a minimum of three semesters.

Amabile has almost 300 singers aged eight through adult, in eight Choirs — four for girls and women, and four for boys and men. Amabile has achieved acclaim on national and world stages for its excellence in choral performance, with 14 CBC National Choral Competition awards and 7 international competition awards.

The group is non-auditioned and consists of music majors as well as students from various academic areas. The Singers usually perfrom at least one major work per year. This 12-member performs vocal jazz, madrigals, and pop a cappella, etc., and is available for smaller venues around campus and the immediate Fayetteville area. As the premiere chorale ensemble at OSU, the OSU Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, the Choir received the Grand Prize at the Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, the Chamber Choir was selected as the only collegiate mixed Choir from outside of the state of Utah to perform at the 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City. The Choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, the first Choir allowed to perform in the monastery in decades. Mary Kay Geston, conductor. Lalla, a 14th century Sufi-mystic poet from the Kashmir region of India, believed strongly in the development of the self while reaching enlightenment. The metaphor of dancing while feeling free or naked exemplifies the beauty of empowerment and self-worth. This work uses influences of Classical Indian music and other vocal effects to allow Lalla’s message to come to life.
