Crossover projects are the hallmark of the Sonux Ensemble. Together with the jazz-saxophonist Stefan Kuchel and the Sirius Quartet, the young Men's Choir performs contemporary works. The Quartet members describe themselves as artists of improvisation who break out of the conventional vocabulary of sound for a string quartet. Most pieces on this CD were written especially for the Sonux Ensemble, and thus composed to the singers' strengths. "We have worked on these pieces together with the composers, and given them their first performances over the course of the last five years. This disc features only world premiere recordings and, literally, unheard of choral Music, " the Choir's director Hans-Joachim Lustig notes.
The works recorded on this CD focus on the topics of light and love. The eponymous poem by Charles Anthony Silvestri that lends its title to the disc frames and connects the two topics. Silvestri wrote the text in 2012, exclusively for this project. Hans-Joachim L... less

"Ladies of Melody Choir"
A specialized female Choir in singing the Syrian, Levantine, and Arab heritage.
The "Ladies of Melody Choir" was founded in the city of Tartus in November 2022 by Maestro Bishr Issa, a graduate of the Higher Institute of Music and a Musician in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. He was also the former conductor of the "Chamber Choir of the High Institute of Music" in Damascus, and the conductor of the "Urjwan Choirs" in Tartous.
The main goal of establishing the "Ladies of Melody Choir" was to highlight the role of Arab women in the cultural and Musical scene, introduce the culture of choral and collective singing in its contemporary concept to the local artistic culture, and revive the authentic Musical heritage of the Levant and the Arab world, which has begun to disappear and decline in the face of superficiality and degradation dominating the general Arab artistic scene. In addition to dedicating Arabic singing in its ... less

The group’s repertory is quite wide and eclectic and ranges from sacred and secular early Music to contemporary works. Besides singing some of the most important Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, by composers such as Victoria, Palestrina, Byrd, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel and Bach, the group has also premiered several contemporary pieces and made first modern auditions of many Portuguese Renaissance and Baroque works. Christopher Bochmann, Ivan Moody, Bob Chilcott, Luis Tinoco, Eurico Carrapatoso and Vasco Mendonça are some of the composers who dedicated works to Grupo Vocal Olisipo.
Grupo Vocal Olisipo attended several masterclasses led by some of the world leading Vocal ensembles, such as The King's Singers and the Hilliard Ensemble and was coached in the performance of Baroque Music by Jill Feldman.
In 1995, the group won an Honorary mention in the Portuguese Musical Youth Contest and was a finalist ... less
