As well as attending weekly rehearsals, the members of this ensemble are committed to music studies and/or voice training. They also participate in a variety of wonderful performance opportunities, recordings and a touring program. Brisbane Birralee voices is acknowledged on home shores and abroad as one of Australia's finest children's choirs. The program encourages young singers to develop their vocal technique and attain musical excellence and there is a strong focus on nurturing the individual in a broader sense. The choir regularly performs at weddings, corporate events and massed male voice choir events, enthralling audiences up and down the country, having also performed in Jersey, Ireland, Belgium, Germany and the USA. Choristers hail from all over North London and have raised substantial funds for national and local charities including the Paul Strickland Scanner Appeal, The Stroke Association, the RAF Benevolent Fund and Bentley Priory Museum. Atlantic voices is an amateur choir starting its tenth season with a repertoire consisting mainly of Newfoundland, Maritime, and Celtic songs and music. The goals of the choir are: to represent and showcase Newfoundland and Maritime music and culture in the Ottawa area; to provide its members with the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform choral compositions; and to offer free of charge, musical entertainment to residents of retirement homes, hospitals etc., via in situ community concerts. Members of Atlantic voices include singers from the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Ontario. Several months previous, a number of likeminded individuals began to visualise the formation of a male choir for the Lower Llynfi Valley, something which this area of the County Borough of Bridgend, South Wales lacked. Following lengthy discussions with a number of experienced and well respected Choristers, we came up with some basic philosophies. • Keep the choir to a manageable size • Take our music to the community-at-large • Establish ourselves as a quality musical group • Encourage less experienced Choristers to grow in ability and musicality • Share our joy in singing One thing was fundamental, and that was to keep the choir `Ego-Free` their mantra being ‘Leave your Egos at the door as it’s the music that matters’.
