Since then the Choir has been not only one of the best Choirs in it`s home country Latvia but also recognized and awarded in many international Choir contests. The Choir has participated in countless international Choir festivals and performed abroad, for example, in Portugal, Japan, Canada, United States of America and many more. Founder of the Choir was Mefodijs Skuja but the greatest achievments DZINTARS succeeded with perennial conductor Ausma Derkēvica. Since 2000 the conductor and Artistic Director is Aira Birziņa, chief conductor of The Nationwide Song Festival in Latvia, Professor of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, organizator of innumerable cultural projects and author of the concepts of many projects for avocational Choirs. Our aim was to capture a serious English Boys C...  moreAs part of the Vocal Art Ensemble's "Inkspell--Choral Music Inspired by Masters of Poetry" concerts in May, 2012, this piece for treble chorus and piano by Jere Hutchinson sets e.e. cummings' whimsical poem. Our aim was to capture a serious English Boys Choir poise while making the most of the poems playful spookiness, so we elicited help from the men of the chorus to try and 'frighten' the women singing.

The ensemble has performed successfully in major Music festivals in Israel and abroad. Their resume includes hundreds of performances in the most prominent venues in Israel (‘The Israeli Opera House‘, ‘Binyanei Hauma‘, ‘Tzavta‘ etc...) and collaborations with various artists and ensembles, including: ‘The Vocal Octet‘ , ‘The Kolan quartet‘, the singer Hanan Yovel and ‘The Haifa Symphony Orchestra'. They have received media exposure on radio and television programs and were featured in a special television program celebrating the Millennium year which was broadcasted to 60 countries worldwide. In 2004, the ensemble was invited to a concert tour in Germany and was warmly received by the critics.
