The holly green, the ivy green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home
It's nice, you know, to kiss your beau
While cuddling under the mistletoe
and Santa Claus you know, of course
Is one of the boys from home
The door is always open
The neighbors pay a call
and Father John before he's gone
Will bLess the house and all
How grand it feels to click your heels
and join in the fun of the jigs and reels
I'm handing you no blarney
The likes you've never known
Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home Less_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">Less

The Cwmbach choir was formed in 1921, and has survived to the present day even though it was severely tested by periods of hardship, depression and the Second World War. During it's 90 years it has flourished and built up an enviable record of success in competitions and concert performances.
Its success in competition, particularly eisteddfodau, was established in its early days. The first taste of success was second prize at Treorchy in 1928, followed by Cardiff in 1938 and Ebbw Vale in 1958. The first prize was ultimately achieved at Port Talbot in 1966 and repeated in 1968 at Barry.
During the 1950's when the Although in recent times the choir has not been nearly as active in the competitive arena, it was successful in taking First prize in the Male choir competition at the Limerick Festival of 1996 in Ireland. In 1997, the choir took part in the International Eisteddfod at Roodeporte, Johannesburg, South Africa where they competed in the Folk Music Competition. They not only came fourth out of se... As the premiere chorale ensemble at OSU, the OSU Chamber choir, under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, the choir received the Grand Prize at the Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, the Chamber choir was selected as the only collegiate mixed choir from outside of the state of Utah to perform at the 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City.
The choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, the first choir allowed to perform in the monastery in decades. The choir has also toured Germany, China, British Columbia, and the Southwestern United States. They perform regularly in state and regional music conferences and on art seri... In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus, joining the choir in recording 4 of his pieces. This performance is from that session.
The other pieces were "Sanctus" for a cappella choir, and "Luminous Night of the Soul", accompanied by the composer at the piano and joined by the Kairos Quartet -- the resident faculty string quartet at CWU.
The final piece, "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages", was recorded both in an unaccompanied rendition (how it is written and published) and in a version with Mr. Gjeilo improvising an accompaniment to the choir.
This was Ola's second time on CWU's campus. His first visit was in the spring of 2011 and yielded 5 videos of his music, a wide-ranging interview with the composer and other bonus material. It resulted in a DVD entitled "In the M... Less_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">Less
