We have been singing as a group for over 10 years. We are a friendly, happy group and you are welcome to come and join us to see what we do. We meet at Barlow Methodist Chapel every Tuesday from 7.30 to 9.30pm

Since 2009, it has been gladding the ceremonies of parishes nearby, mainly thanks to new Musical equipment and stabler rehearsals and organisation. the most unique thing about this choir is its style: apart from being always varied, it offers a joyous, rhythmical, alternative and new way of celebrating Mass, joining pop and rock with religious themes.

Our members are mainly from a...  morethe Mayo Male Voice Choir has been in existence for twelve years, it has grown in strength this year from 26 to 42 members, and now has a wide and varied repertory featuring many favorites from light opera to popular Musical. Our members are mainly from around the Castlebar area, but with five from BAllinrobe, more from Swinford, Kilkelly and BAllyglass we now truly represent our county. Under the Musical direction of Deirdre Lee, from Kiltimagh, Deirdre has been our Musical director since the choir’s inception, an honors music graduate of University College Maynooth, having studied under Professor Gerard Gillen. She has been involved in many Musicals and events as Musical director, arranged and conducted. Deirdre is a teacher of music, choir and orchestra in St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar. She has arranged many of the pieces we perform in four part for male voice. which were previously not available to us.  less

This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of All styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. these dynamic and talented singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. the SYC annuAlly participates in the Family Christmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. they also stage an Orchestra concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few.
