It is a Choir ensemble of about 25 people, mainly amateurs. They share an incredible passion for Music and are keen on spreading their positive singing energy. The Choir is known for its modern choral Music repertoire, consisting of songs from all over the world as well as pop Music masterpieces. The group was awarded a silver medal in pop Music category during 5th 'Music Everywhere Festival' in Gdansk in 2019. So far, the Choir has performed in several places in Poland, often the non-obvious ones, trying to make choral Music available to everyone. The Choir’s conductor, Zuzanna Popiołkiewicz, graduated from Conducting faculty at the Academy of Music in Gdansk. In 2012, as a representative of Poland, she led Music workshops for the American organization 'Singers of United Lands' in 23 US states, Canada, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Executing this Music with "sensitivity and style" (Early Music America), Schola Antiqua takes pride in providing the highest standards of research, performance, and education involving many under-served repertories in the western Musical canon. Founded in 2000, the organization has received invitations to perform from the Indianapolis Early Music Festival, Chicago’s Newberry Library, the Chicago Cultural Center, the University of Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, the American Guild of Organists, and numerous locations across the Midwest. We are committed singers, who can prepare Music independently before a short intensive rehearsal series, and have opportunities to perform some of the great works from the classical choral repertoire to a high standard and in exciting venues. We also enjoy singing simple Music well at smaller performances on our rehearsal weekends and at conference events. Although our performances are mostly in Ireland, we have quite a few singers from other countries, including UK, France, Germany and Sweden. During 2020, we have held online rehearsals using Zoom and produced two online concerts, raising 11,000 Euro for charity.  less

We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path. The Choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others. Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. The Choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
