Dedicated to presenting inspiring and innovative programs that engage and enrich audiences, voices of the Commonwealth has made quite an impact on the musical life of Northern Kentucky in two short years. We were originally founded as a workplace choir for K Shoes (taken over by Clarks) of Kendal, Cumbria in 1969. We have around fifty members and support local and national charities. We are a very friendly choir and welcome new members.
The Choir was first formed in 1962 as Aberystwyth Post Office Gleemen under the direction of James Morse. One';">moreOne;">The Choir was first formed in 1962 as Aberystwyth Post Office Gleemen under the direction of James Morse. During the fifty plus years of its lifetime it has benefited from the leadership of five further conductors, David Griffiths, Margaret Maddock, Len Williams, Carol Davies and our present Director of Music, Alwyn Evans. The choir has travelled widely over the years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engagements throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great cathedrals. In the Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and others. In 2012 we celebrated our 50th anniversary. In 2015 we again sang at the 1000 voices at The ROYAL ALBERT HALL London and with tenor Russell Watson during his UK tour One';">less

We train together in vocal and choral skills as part of every session and want to explore our own sound as well as that of our choir's. We have a strong Folk influence and a ... We train together in vocal and choral skills as part of every session and want to explore our own sound as well as that of our choir's. We have a strong Folk influence and a variety of pieces that keep us challenged and growing. Directed and trained by singing teacher and choir coach Sandra Smith (www.singingandbreathing.co.uk) Throughout the pandemic we kept singing and did a short but very fun Homegrown Harmony project where all singers participated in a small group piece or a solo and recorded it.
