Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training choir is able to travel anywhere. To date they have travelled to Cornwall, Devon, Derbyshire, Wales, France and Germany. The whole choir is mixed, with approximately 50 Singers and performs around 30 times a year. The choir has raised over £63,000 for charity over their time together. On its firSt attempt at competitions in 2007, the group won Second Runner-Up in the preStigious PAGCOR Chorale FeStival and was chosen as one of the top five winners in the Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition. In December 2007, the Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at the Opening Ceremonies of the Amazing European Union ChriStmas held at The Podium, Ortigas and was one of the choirs invited to grace the Sing For Me Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of the winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale FeSt, a choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records. The choir consiSts of about 60 female and male Singers. Many of the members are active and former Students of the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover, but other professions are represented as well, and all Singers are united in their wide choral experience and their joy in singing challenging works together. The performance of a wide range of a cappella works, some of them quite unknown, forms an important emphasis of the choir. In addition to sacred and secular a cappella music of the 15th century until today, the choir performs cantatas, masses, oratorios, and passions. Many compositions were broadcaSt for radio Stations or published on CD. The choir has recorded ten CDs and performed several world premieres of contemporary compositions, e.g. by Büsing, Dinescu, Fuchs and Wangenheim. The Greenwood Chorale is made up of Singers from the greater Greenwood region who enjoy singing choral music together. We sing both sacred and non-sacred music covering a broad spectrum of music periods.
