Phoenix have performed around the world, in the USA, Canada, Holland and Ireland as well as all over Britain in world renowned venues such as the Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall and The Sage in Gateshead.

The choir itself is composed of students, staff, faculty, and members of the Twin Cities community. Over the years, the choir’s repertoire has included performances of: Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, The Requiems of Brahms and Mozart, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and others. Auditions held every August and January.

This choir is partnered with a non-profit organization called the New York Community Alliance for Sickle Cell Anemia Inc. We plan to use our concert venues for aiding this organization's cause.
Our conductor John Hunter II is a young but competent conductor. He received his Master's in Choral Conducting from Mansfield University. To hear some of his works, you may go to his website at http://www.wix.com/hunterjj14/my-web . By simply going to the Choral Listening Room in his website you can hear a number of works conducted by him.

The choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written MUSIC in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b.... moreThroughout its existence the chamber choir Schola Cantorum has had HIGH ambitions. The choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written MUSIC in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a choir at the MUSIC department of the University of Oslo. The choir continues to recruit members from the department of MUSIC, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of MUSIC in more recent years.
The American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new MUSIC – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s MUSIC became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire.
Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl became conductor in 2002, and has further established the choir’s firm position in Norway’s MUSICal life. She has continued Nystedt’s tradition of performing modern MUSIC. Schola Cantorum has a varied repert... less
