By participating in our choir program, youths not only develop new talents ...  more Senior's choir empowers youths by providing them with an opportunity to enhance their music literacy skills while addressing the pressing issues of youth unemployment and crime. By participating in our choir program, youths not only develop new talents and improve their cognitive abilities, but they also serve as mentors and positive role models for younger generations. Our unique approach promotes intergenerational collaboration and fosters a sense of community, ultimately leading to reduced youth unemployment rates and a decrease in crime rates. Together, we can create a harmonious society where music education and social integration go hand in hand.  less

The choral programme starts with a general education for ages 5-7, before they are ready for Junior Choir (7-10), Intermediate Choir (10-13), Stage Choir or Youth Choir (13-18). Youth Choir contains over 80 singers, and the total number of singers meeting each week at the academy is over 180. The junior choirs are directed by Mrs Kate Venvell, Stage Choir is directed by Richard Halton and Julie Gossage, and Youth Choir is directed by Tim Venvell.  less

This original composition being premiered this afternoon was commissioned by Rainier Chorale “in honor of Ron Bayer, Artistic Director, for his 20 years of dedicated service and leadership.” Written by well-known and respected contemporary composer David ...  moreThis original composition being premiered this afternoon was commissioned by Rainier Chorale “in honor of Ron Bayer, Artistic Director, for his 20 years of dedicated service and leadership.” Written by well-known and respected contemporary composer David Dickau, it hauntingly sets a very thoughtful text by Will Dromgoole. In it, Dromgoole tells the story of an old man who approaches a deep and wide water-filled chasm. He crosses in the evening as he is unafraid, then builds a bridge to span the tide. A fellow pilgrim questions why an old man would build the bridge, as he would surely never pass this way again in his lifetime. The old man lifts his grey head and responds to the questioning traveler that a youth is to follow after him. He too, would need to cross in the twilight dim. The old man answers, “I am building this bridge for him.” The commission process was an interesting and fascinating one in which to be involved.
