Founded by a group of choral music lovers in 2002, KCC has leaded the choral music community to an unceasingly advancement in southern Taiwan. KCC performs a vast selection of local and international repertoires, female or male choral work, a cappella pieces, contemporary Chamber choir music, and newly commissioned compositions in its semi annual concerts and other occasions. KCC’s active presence on stages has brought several acclaimed rewards from private and public offices. Under the leadership of the current Artistic Director, Dr. Chia-fen Weng, KCC launched the Elite Workshop to further expand the choir’s caliber in 2007. This program recruited a few young talented Singers to act as voice teachers in the choir, such as Hua-chen Liang, Je-jium Chan and Ying-jen Yao, and offers music theory, body movement and dancing lessons to its members as part of this Elite Workshop program. A fantastic and welcome addition to the British choral tradition, Reverie is defined by its unique blend of voices and carefully crafted approach to interpretation. These engaging and distinctive qualities create a choral timbre perfectly suited to modern vocal repertoire.

The University Chorale is the touring ensemble for the choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of the finest choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout the Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, there are Singers representing several other academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under the direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is the Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on the music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less

ABOUT THE CHOIR: Since 2009, the CWU Chamber choir has held annual recording sessions to create videos specifically designed for YouTube. All are under the baton of Dr. Gary A. Weidenaar, who has been the director of the choir since 2006. As of Fall, 2016; there are 26 videos. Founded in 1977, the choir has gained a well-deserved reputation for performing neglected and unfamiliar music as well as better known and popular pieces, both sacred and secular. New members are welcome and encouraged to attend three rehearsals before an informal voice appraisal.
