The Girl Choir of South Florida is the premier singing ensemble for Young women in the tri-county area. The Girl Choir, led by Artistic Director Wallis Peterson, has been extolled by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as “imaginative, accessible, expressive, and entertaining”, gaining a reputation for delivering compelling concert programming. The Girl Choir’s repertoire is broad, from ancient to modern, classical to popular, sacred to secular, and folk to Broadway, encompassing many cultures, faiths, and traditions. Over the past seven seasons, the Girl Choir has commissioned and premiered works by noted choral composers, including Eleanor Daley, Bob Chilcott, and David Brunner. Since 2009 and thanks to his founder, Oscar Allen, the Choral Project has been working with Young singers and developing Young Voices to excell in the interpretation and enjoyment of choral music and group singing. Due to an intensive and hard work, its members receive a full choral and scenic education, structured in the vocal individual technique and its different types of sound emission; on the development of corporal skills expression, and in the grupal practice of the choral exercise. This education is complemented by the permanent contact with other artistic disciplines as ballet and theatre are.
