The Cwmbach Choir was formed in 1921, and has survived to the present day even though it was severely tested by periods of hardship, depression and the Second World War. During it's 90 years it has flourished and built up an enviable record of success...  more The Cwmbach Choir was formed in 1921, and has survived to the present day even though it was severely tested by periods of hardship, depression and the Second World War. During it's 90 years it has flourished and built up an enviable record of success in competitions and concert performances. Its success in competition,particularly eisteddfodau, was established in its early days. The first taste of success was second prize at Treorchy in 1928, followed by Cardiff in 1938 and Ebbw Vale in 1958. The first prize was ultimately achieved at Port Talbot in 1966 and repeated in 1968 at Barry. During the 1950's when the Although in recent times the Choir has not been nearly as active in the competitive arena, it was successful in taking First prize in the Male Choir competition at the Limerick Festival of 1996 in Ireland. With a great sense of fun and a unique style of entertainment, the chorus has gripped audiences during its history of 34 years. our close knit membership of nearly sixty guys has a strong commitment to vocal and performance excellence. Cottontown particularly enjoy competing in both national and international barbershop competitions. Well respected stages around the UK including the London Palladium have given us the opportunity to wow audiences with stirring harmonies, emotional lyrics, exciting choreography and visual effects. It is composed of members coming from the Senior High School and College levels of the University, and in the recent years, it has bagged awards in different inter-School competitions, including the Southern Luzon Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SLCUAA) Cultural Competition wherein it ranked as the 1st Runner-Up in 2017 and 2018, and the 2nd Runner-Up in 2019. It has also sent its members to acclaimed skill improvement programs such as those organized by the Children’s Museum and Library, Inc. wherein its members were hailed as the best in singing workshops in 2016, 2017, and 2018.  less

We are directed by the dynamic Scott Inglis-Kidger, a music graduate from Cambridge University and previously a countertenor in the renowned King’s College Choir. Scott selects a fabulous range of music for us to work on and we are incredibly lucky to be supported by a professional orchestra and top professional soloists. All of this, combined with the commitment and enthusiasm of our members, makes for performances which are thrilling for the audience and exhilerating for the singers. We still retain a sense of joy of singing and of friendship and celebrate all our concerts with parties at our local Battersea pub. We do not hold auditions so if you would like to come and join us you are very welcome at any time to try a rehearsal or two and then decide if you would like to join. A friendly choir of 60-70 singers, we give four main local concerts a year and enjoy touring. Since 2002, our concert tours have included Lake Garda, Venice, Umbria, Tuscany, Kraków, Amiens and Ghent. In the UK we have performed at the London Coliseum (2006), Ely Cathedral (2007), the Southbank Centre (2010) and Winchester Cathedral (2011).  less

We started in small number of members until it grew bigger and bigger. During those times we were known to be a very good chorale group in our Diocese. It was the time where or group shined the most. Like other groups, our group also had its flop. Some of us are already busy studying in college after we graduated high School. That's why we need to find new members. We suffered from having lack of commitment of other members, and it gave us a difficult time to find new members. But our Maestro never gave up. He continued to build the group. We have a lot of plans to build again and let this group shine again with its brightest light. We are still sharing our music because welove this group and the passion to serve Christ through music is burning within our hearts.  less
