In a short time the Choir has achieved a valuable role in the Finnish community in The Netherlands. TAIKA practices in The Hague. The Choir has a wide repertoire, ranging from folk to pop, with an emphasis on Finnish female choral music. However, the Choir enthusiastically performs songs from all around the world. The Choir performs in a wide range of events hosted by businesses and organisations. In the spring of 2015 the Choir was performing for the first time abroad - in Finland. Summer 2017 Choir was in Verona, Italy, taking a part of an international Choir festival.  less

The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930s to today, as well as classic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's. Newly formed in 2022, the group is currently comprised of a mixed Choir, a men's Choir, and a Women's Choir. The mixed Choir meets at the Manchester Rugby Club, and the men's and Women's Choirs meet at the Wilmslow Rugby Club. The repertoire consists of a little bit of everything - madrigals, movies, musicals, spirituals, shanties, serious songs, silly songs - everything. We sing a-cappella style music in four-part harmony, called Barbershop. The songs we sing are varied, some old classics, some modern with a twist! In an effort to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest possible level, we compete each year in a national contest and we also perform our own annual Show to raise our profile in the community. The women of The Vocal Art Ensemble perform Ro Agura's "Hotaru Koi" (Ho, Firefly) as part of their May 2011 concert "Cloudburst--Sounds of Nature". To set the mood, the men behind the women are providing 'firefly' effects using laser keychains.

The Southwest Women's Chorus of Temecula, California, presents a medley of songs from "Les Miserables". Many songs are represented and the arrangement by Ed Lojeski is excellent. Our soloists are Adriana Burchard, Alecia Ghilarducci, and Anna Yamasaki.
