When They look angry, don't believe Their faces. It's spring lightning, a joke before The rain. They chew thorns thoughtfully along with pasture grass. Gazelle and lioness, having dinner. Love is invisible except here, in us. Sometimes I praise love; sometimes love praises me. Love, a little shell somewhere on The ocean floor, opens its mouth. Performing with an ensemble of 10 singers and no conductor, Chicago a cappella is recognized as one of The area’s most accomplished vocal ensembles. Under The direction of artistic director John William Trotter, The group spans a repertoire from Gregorian chant to The Beatles and beyond and is known for its performances of sacred works, vocal jazz and pop, folk and international music, as well as a special focus on music written in The present generation. Since its founding in 1993, The ensemble has introduced dozens of works to Chicago audiences for The first time, including commissioned works by Chen Yi, Stacy Garrop, and Tania León. Water Ruminations is a setting of six poems by The thirteenth-century poet Rumi, in English translations from The Persian by Coleman Barks, for double Choir and organ. The poetry sings of literal and spiritual connections between water and sky, a drop of water and human life, flowing water and love, drinking water and its container, The giddiness of spring and rolling seas, and The ocean's gifts and singing. Its images, from 800 years ago, speak to us with both vivid immediacy and transcendence. Any person acquainted with student culture understands The important role of music and singing in The life of a young person. Acastella is a platform for young adults studying at Stellenbosch University to practice Their love of singing. Unfortunately The members got spread across The vast world and thus decided to stop Acastella at The end of 2013.  less
