On 16 November 2025 at 7.30 All Saints Church Kingston will become the stage for intensely powerful musical drama as Kingston Choral Society opens their 75th season with a truly remarkable work.
Handel’s Israel in Egypt is one of Handel’s most lavish and dramatic oratorios. Unusually, the soloists’ contributions are secondary as the choir is given the starring role in the turbulent narrative, relating the story of the Biblical plagues, the Israelites’ flight from Egypt via the parting of the Red Sea, and their triumph over the Pharaoh’s army. the plot unfolds in a series of thrilling and startlingly inventive choruses.

the Student Union Choir of the University of Turku (TYY Choir for short, established in 1987) is a mixed choir of approximately 60 singers from all the faculties and even outside the university. In August 2009, Mikko Sidoroff started his work as the choir’s conductor.
the choir’s repertoire mainly consists of a wide variety of a cappella songs. the choir can be found performing in Turku as well as other cities many times throughout the year. Traditionally, there is a quartet concert in January, a spring concert right after May Day (Vappu) and an advent concert in December.
the TYY Choir has participated in many venues outside of Turku. the choir represented Finland in the international choir competition in Coleraine, Ireland in 2006. the competition could not have gone any better as the choir won in the category of mixed choir and was given the award as best choir. On its first attempt at competitions in 2007, the group won Second Runner-Up in the prestigious PAGCOR Chorale Festival and was chosen as one of the top five winners in the Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition.
In December 2007, the Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at the Opening Ceremonies of the Amazing European Union Christmas held at the Podium, Ortigas and was one of the choirs invited to grace the Sing for Me Project of the Department of Social welfare and Development.
In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of the winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale Fest, a choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records.
