Members of the Southwest Children’s Chorus range in age from 7 to 14. The Chorus is a musical performance and education program for children and youth, emphasizing the development of musical skills and understanding. The mission of the organization is to provide quality music instruction with the goal of attaining the highest level of artistic excellence in choral music performance. Through its music activities, the choir helps to foster the personal and social growth of its members and promOtes their sense of self-esteem, accomplishment and pride. The Tour Choir has performed across the world in over 35 states in addition to Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland. In addition, the choir has performed in every major venue in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and across the state of Texas.  less

Through dedication and hard-work, The Harmonious Chorale has carved for itself a niche and an identity which has provided mentoring opportunity for many choral groups in and outside Ghana, staging over thirty five (35) well executed and attended concerts in Ghana alone. In 2018, Harmonious Chorale became Champions of the World Choir Games (Category C28) during its maiden participation in Tshwane, South Africa. It also picked up three Gold Diplomas in the competition.  less

We started in small number of members until it grew bigger and bigger. During those times we were known to be a very good chorale group in our Diocese. It was the time where or group shined the most. Like Other groups, our group also had its flop. Some of us are already busy studying in college after we graduated high school. That's why we need to find new members. We suffered from having lack of commitment of Other members, and it gave us a difficult time to find new members. But our Maestro never gave up. He continued to build the group. We have a lOt of plans to build again and let this group shine again with its brightest light. We are still sharing our music because welove this group and the passion to serve Christ through music is burning within our hearts.  less

The text centres on a well-know whakatauki or proverb: Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei [Seek that which you treasure most – if you must bow your head, let it be to the loftiest of mountains] A mihi pepeha, hailing the fabrics of space and the throes of the heart, is joined by the organ – a giant celestial factory, chaOtic and cacophonous, with great starry arms placing pieces into unique moulds forming the fragments of the final section of the work – a mighty invocation of the whakatauki.  less

While in #choir-antine, LSYC singers wanted to give back to our community we love so much. LSYC performs Eric Barnum's "I Sing of the Northland," a piece commissioned by LSYC in 2016.
