Samford’s A Cappella Choir took some of the top honors at the Florilége Vocal de Tours competition in Tours, France, May 25-27 2012, including: First Prize, Renaissance Competition Ronsard Prize, Renaissance Competition First Place, Free Expression Third Place, Mixed Choirs  less

In 2011. they won silver prize in Rimini, And also, the special prize for the best group up to 12 singers. During 2012. they performed in 3 contests, in Gorizia (ITA) - 1st prize in pop cathegory, Graz (AUT) - bronze in pop cathegory And Rijeka (CRO) - 1st prize in gospel And Jazz.  less

Our choir also participated in a combined concert with Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA And last fAll we were chosen to be a part of a larger ensemble to sing in Rome, Italy, performing at the Vatican. Its first members were students of the Club's Music School And many of them participated in the Youth Choir of the city of Heraklion, under the direction of Mrs. Katerina Tzagkaraki. The name of the ensemble originates from Thalitas, an ancient cretan composer And legislator, after whom a street in Heraklion is named; in this street the first rehearsals of the ensemble took place. The ensemble's primary goal was to acquaint its members with the a cappella (“in the chapel”, without church organ accompaniment) vocal music of the renaissance period. THALITAS began by studying And performing works of renowned composers of That era (e.g. Josquin des Prez, G. P. da Palestrina, OrlAndo di Lasso) to assist the learning process of its members' musical studies.
