Their mission is to entertain, educate, unite and uplift their audiences and members through music that is distinguished for its innovation, diversity and artistic excellence. Their philanthropic mission is to provide funding and support for music education in our schools and the community. On September 10 of this year, Nashville Singers awarded their first Music Makes a Difference music education grant to John Overton High School. The singers are all volunteers, range in age from teenagers to retirees and travel from five different counties throughout Middle Tennessee to be a part of the chorus. With the addition of Richard Larson as artistic director and a handful of additional Singers, the group quickly found a footing in the cultural fabric of Denver, Colorado. Now entering its 15th full season of performing, the group has expanded into an auditioned ensemble of 54 volunteer singers who meet weekly to rehearse. Many of the singers come from schools with strong choral music programs, such as Augustana, Brigham Young, Concordia, Luther, St. Olaf, Wartburg, and the University of Northern Colorado. Kantorei established itself as one of the nation’s premier choral ensembles after performing as an auditioned Choir for the 2003 National American Choral Directors Association Conference at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Our members are mainly from a...  moreThe Mayo Male Voice Choir has been in existence for twelve years, it has grown in strength this year from 26 to 42 members, and now has a wide and varied repertory featuring many favorites from light opera to popular musical. Our members are mainly from around the Castlebar area, but with five from Ballinrobe, more from Swinford, Kilkelly and Ballyglass we now truly represent our county. Under the musical direction of Deirdre Lee, from Kiltimagh, Deirdre has been our musical director since the Choir’s inception, an honors music graduate of University College Maynooth, having studied under Professor Gerard Gillen. She has been involved in many musicals and events as musical director, arranged and conducted. Deirdre is a teacher of music, Choir and orchestra in St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar. She has arranged many of the pieces we perform in four part for male voice. which were previously not available to us.  less
