Because it is noted as printed with permission of an Edinburgh firm, there was clearly an earlier version. Although the song is the unofficial anthem of Dublin and generally regarded as Irish, it was, in fact, written by a Scotsman. This outdoor performance was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. We rehearsed for most of the Day in two-choir sections, with our four choral directors, Scott Inglis-Kidger, Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Riccardo Bonci and Jonny Davies. After lunch we began to put the sections together. At 4pm we brought all 8 choirs together and Scott Inglis-Kidger led a most thrilling final performance. It was originally formed by Ben Camaso as JCSV Chorale, a name patterned in accordance to the Jaime Cardinal Sin Village Community, which in that time was newly constructed, located at Punta. Sta. Ana, Manila, where the parish is situated. Before, they compose of only girls, singing melody of the songs of the Holy Mass. A year passed, Virgilio Deloso handled the choir, and divided the girls into two voices, the Sopranos and Altos. It was not so long that the group acquired male participants filling up all the voice sections of a chorale. Shortly after, JCSV Chorale was then disbanded to give rise to what they now call the Munting Himig Chorale, having more than 20 god-endearing and angelic-voiced youth of Punta.
