Founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic amateur singers, our repertoire ranges from the great classical Choral works to modern contemporary pieces. Under the skilled direction of Howard Kane, who was appointed Musical director in 2008, and ably assisted by Robert Woods the choir has grown in size and reputation.
Rehearsals
Monday nights are rehearsal nights which are held in Frodsham Methodist Church, Kingsley Rd, WA6 6BA from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. New members are welcome to come along and give us a try.
We rehearse from September through to July for our four main concerts, which are held in Frodsham, and also take our music to other venues in the area. Groups of singers from within the choir are available to sing at weddings and the choir regularly puts on events to raise money for local charities.

It is a Medley of three 19th century songs—"Dixie", a minstrel song that became the unofficial anthem of the Confederacy since the Civil War; "All My Trials", originally a Bahamian lullaby, but closely related to African American spirituals, and well-known through folk music revivalists. Sung as part of a concert at St. Johns Church, Keynsham, on 6th April 2013 to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association. less

Pastores y Zagales,
venid, venid llegad,
y al Niño que ha nacido
festivos obsequiad.
Nacido de una Virgen,
el Hijo Dios ya,
al Cielo da la Gloria
y Paz al hombre da.
Su Madre le cobija
y besa sin cesar,
al verle desnudito
en pajas reposar.
Pastores y Zagales,
venid, venid llegad,
y al Niño que ha nacido
festivos obsequiad.
¡Qué Niño os de la Paz!

First and foremost, its name is closely associated with its first conductor Artūrs Bobkovics (1885-1959), who already then had become "the King of Latvian symphonic music". He organized the concerts of symphonic music and helped promote them. For the first time, the choir came together in the evening of October 18, when about 90 students gathered at Riga Secondary School No 2. The testing of voices was not very strict, and of the entire enthusiastic crowd only one student was rejected. Then, for a month, rehearsals were held, in which the voices of would-be singers were trained and made to keep in tune. After that another testing was held. This time the competition was much stricter, and only 40 singers were selected. That was the beginning of "Latvia University Student Choir", which, on November 24, 1920, was recognized and affirmed by the University Council as the first official choir of the n... less
