However, the existence of a primary form of the Choir conducted by Agesilaos Papantoniou and then Ioanni...  moreSaint Alexander Choir was founded by Ioannis Kottoros, Cantor at Saint Alexander’s Church in Palaion Faliron, in 1943 and conducted by him until 2006. However, the existence of a primary form of the Choir conducted by Agesilaos Papantoniou and then Ioannis Kottoros in succession is traced in 1930s. Since its foundation the Choir has had an exclusive and leading position in the parish ecclesiastical music, and, like Saint Alexander’s Church, follows the eastern orthodox doctrine and comes under the Holy Metropolis of Nea Smyrni. Both the Choir and the former conductor Ioannis Kottoros have been awarded several times; recently, in 2005, they were honoured with the Golden Cross of Apostle Paul by His Beatitude the late Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Christodoulos. The Choir is not only one of the actors of the cultural life of the University, but also an ambassador of it in the department of Sarthe, in France and abroad. Administratively, the Choir is an association (french law 1901). The repertoire of the Choir is varied: classical music, gospel, jazz, music of the world, variety. Depending on the works, the Choir is accompanied by its regular pianist at the piano, by renowned orchestra, or by orchestra made up of professional musicians for specific events. Vi arbeider med et variert repertoar med stor spennvidde. Det dekker alt frå religiøs musikk til drikkeviser. Gammal og ny musikk, shanty, jazz - inspirert, negro spirituals og elles dei tradisjonelle mannskorverka. Mange forbinder mannskor med 17. mai og gamle tradisjonelle sanger. Os Mannskor stiller villig opp 17. mai med nasjonale musikkskatter, men det er likevel bare en liten del av et frodig bilde. Vi er ikke opptatt av båser når det gjelder musikk.
