This version is based on that by the Golden Gate Quartet, the most successful of all of the African-American gospel music groups who sang in the jubilee quartet style. Formed in 1934 the group remains active today, although with no original members. The Singers are directed by Dr Simon Lindley, Music Director since the choir's foundation in 1977. The plainchant verses are sung by soprano Sarah Kelly, and the solo quartet (positioned remotely from the main choir) comprises soprano Julie Kilburn, alto Lucy Appleyard, tenor Jonathan Morrish and bass Quentin Brown.
