Statement of Purpose: Deo Cantamus is an organization of musicians whose purpose is to worship the true and living God through the performance of and instruction in quality vocal and instrumental music. Because worshipping God is our fundamental intention, this necessarily requires that we be in right relationship with the God we worship. We believe that this is only possible through faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we as individuals are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the fully divine and fully human Son of God. His death and resurrection is the only means by which people can have forgiveness of their sins and eternal life. We believe that the guilt of our sins was entirely charged against Him on the cross. The choir s...  moreThe Choir of Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage has about 35 members and is the choir of the parish of Cannes, on the French Riviera. It was founded in 1898 by Albert Frommer, organist, and is now conducted by Stephan Nicolay, chapel master, since 1999. The choir sings each sunday and on special occasion in the different churches of Cannes. It also sings 4 to 6 concerts a year, sometimes with an orchestra. His repertory covers all the sacred music from gregorian chant to 21st century. Among the last masterworks done in concert with an orchestra are Requiem (Saint-Saens), Stabat Mater (Haydn), Vesperae Solennes de Confessore (Mozart), Gallia (Gounod), etc. New members are welcome.  less

As the premiere Chorale ensemble at OSU, the OSU Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, the choir received the Grand Prize at the Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, the Chamber Choir was selected as the only collegiate mixed choir from outside of the state of Utah to perform at the 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City. The choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, the first choir allowed to perform in the monastery in decades. One could trace back choral singing at St. Benedict’s to the early years of the 20th.Century when La Sallian Christian brother expatriates from Europe inculcated in the local staff and student bodies , an appreciation of choral singing. They brought to our school the rich traditions of classical music that prevailed in Europe, at the time. By and by , they were ably assisted by highly interested and committed lay trainers cum teachers who went on to train prize winning choirs that stood out among schools and also were in great demand for national events. The history of the Benedictine choirs would not be complete without reference to the great English musician Rev.Bro. Hugh Farrington , ably assisted by Bonnie Fonseka. They established the reputation of Benedictine choirs.
