We encourage choral singing for all ages and abilities, including those who have never sung in Choirs before as well as very experienced singers. We perform a wide range of music throughout the year and we're committed to contributing to the cultural life of our area. There is no need to audition, just to love singing! Our musical director is Rupert Gill.  

Membership is open to men and women (including High School and College students) of all ages who enjoy singing. New members are always welcome. GGCC generally performs at least two concerts per year, a Winter/Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert.

The Richmond Singers is a 55 Voice women’s Choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of othe...  moreThe Richmond Singers is a 55 Voice women’s Choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our musical season (September – June), the Choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors. We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. It typically assembles a Choir for a brief time before each performance, then disbands until just before the next concert when a new Choir is formed. The singers may or may not be the same each time. The Choir is known for its freshness of sound and heart felt connections with the listener.

The group is one of Madagascar’s top Choirs and aims for musical excellence and artistic innovation. Various performances have been given since its debut in major places around the country. ICanto’s repertoire is eighty percent a capella and the Choir interpretes all genres of Classical Music, from ancient to modern as well as rearranged traditional Malagasy music. The Choir is conducted by Fitah Rasendrahasina.

We are resident at St. Matthew's parish church in Chapel Allerton. We rehearsal three times a month, on a Friday evening and sing four services a month, including Evensong on the first Sunday of every month. We also often host come and sing days and various workshops, our two most recent projects have been on Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri and Mozart's Requiem. We’ve raised thousands for various charities through our concerts and perform regularly in events such as festivals, open days, fairs and more.
