The choir sings an eclectic mix of pop classics, show songs, spirituals and contemporary pieces. We love what we do and we also love to use our singing to contribute to the community of Southend by performing regularly within the town and by raising money for local charities. We have represented Southend further afield with performances at Dublin's Guinness Storehouse and Union Chapel, London.

GGCC generally performs at least two concerts per year, a Winter/Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert.  

The University Choir of UTPB is an advanced select ensemble that performs masterworks from the choral canon as well as contemporary works from around the world.

The choir has performed in all of London’s major concert halls, churches and cathedrals, including the Southbank Centre, the Barbican, the Royal Albert Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James's Piccadilly, St Paul's Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral. It h...  moreThe choir has performed in all of London’s major concert halls, churches and cathedrals, including the Southbank Centre, the Barbican, the Royal Albert Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James's Piccadilly, St Paul's Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral. It has also performed at Abbey Road Studios, the London O2 Arena and Hampton Court Palace. Abroad, the choir has given concerts in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and the Pushkin Palace outside St Petersburg, at festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Strasbourg, Aachen and Cork, and at other important venues in Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Holland, Iceland, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Latvia. The choir’s repertoire is broad, ranging from the great choral and orchestral works by Verdi, Brahms, Mozart, Handel and Bach to contemporary commissions. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our musical season (September – June), the choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors. We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. The choristers looked at the formation of the choir as further development to their shared roots from singing with the Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir. They also looked to continue the tradition of successful male chamber choirs founded by former members of Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir, which is unique in Germany. The ensemble has committed itself to presenting the audience with unfamiliar male choir works of the highest level, but without neglecting the traditional canon of compositions, which makes for a exceptional combination.
