We are an 80-strong SATB choir in our 55th season and, while we sing a varied repertoire, we are best known for our Spirited performances of the great and exciting choral works. In recent years, works which we have performed include Bach ‘Magnificat’, ...  moreWe are an 80-strong SATB choir in our 55th season and, while we sing a varied repertoire, we are best known for our Spirited performances of the great and exciting choral works. In recent years, works which we have performed include Bach ‘Magnificat’, Vivaldi ‘Gloria’, Mozart ‘Requiem’, Orff ‘Carmina Burana’, Rossini ‘Stabat Mater’, Dvorak ‘Mass in D’, Tippett ‘A Child of our Time’, Handel 'Messiah' and Verdi ‘Requiem’.' We engage professional soloists and orchestra, to perform with the choir. Since March 2015 our Musica Director is Adam Treadaway. We perform three concerts a year at St George's Church Beckenham with weekly rehearsals from September to June at the St George's Church Hall. These venues are close to Beckenham Junction Rail and Tram Stations and on many bus routes. Car parking is also available at the St George's public car park.  less

Meistersingers was formed in Orange County, California, in 2000 as a response to a growing demand for quality choral music performance. Created to be a chamber ensemble specializing in demanding classical choral works, Meistersingers maintains high standards in literature and chooses outstanding performance venues with beauty and elegance equal to the music. We are committed to continuing this path and expanding our influence in the music community through different means such as composition competitions and scholarships. Directed by David Skinner, Alamire has embarked on an ambitious ten year 30-disc project to record a library of early English choral music. Skinner’s performing editions will be published by Edition Peters. He is also guest blogger on renaissance repertoire for Eric Whitacre.

With a membership of around 80, we are an eclectic bunch of people who share a common love of choral music. We offer new singers a warm welcome and the opportunity to take part in choral concerts in London four times a year, plus various otHer events and weekend trips away both abroad and in the UK. THere is a thriving though optional social side to choir life including drinks after Monday night rehearsals and occasional choir social evenings and otHer events. The Choir's repertoire ranges widely from staple works such as Bach's St Matthew Passion and Mendelssohn's Elijah to more unusual and rarely heard works by composers such as Jonathan Dove and the Choir's music director Jonathan Rathbone. It recorded Richard Maunder's new edition of Mozart's Requiem under its former music director Murray Stewart, and in 2009-10 the Choir released a CD of the Choir's repertoire, WHere'er You Walk, to celebrat...    less
