The Swingles show, supporting the release of their new album 'Ferris Wheels' features songs by the likes of Nick Drake, Bjork, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Green Day, and the set also includes their customary covers of Bach and The Beatles with human beatboxing at the heart throughout. Vocal gymnastics at their best, and the choreography is something else too! Since its formation it has presented well over 100 performances and ppeared at each of the Worcester Three Choirs Festivals from 1981 to 1996. Performances have included world premières of works by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Herbert Sumsion and Howard Blake, and a British première of Leonard Bernstein’s Missa Brevis. The Chorale was also the principal Choral group at the Highly successful Elgar Festivals at Worcester in 2007 and 2009, and Last year enjoyed a Concert tour in Devon, singing at Colyton, Dartmouth, Exeter and Torquay. It is proud to have Dame Janet Baker, C.H as its Patron. When School was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing together as a choi... Lass="view_more_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getNext().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">moreLass="view_more" style="display:none;">Our beginnings lie at Kingsbury High School in Brent. The School's choir became very successful in the mid-1980s, winning many competitions including the Llangollen Eisteddfod. When School was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing together as a choir, and the group's achievements included reaching the semi-finals of Sainsbury's Choir of the Year and appearing on Opportunity Knocks. In the 1990's, the choir moved to Harrow and officially became known as Jubilate. Sarah Stroh took over as Musical Director in 1999 and since then the choir has grown significantly, doubling in size to its current membership of 43. There are still some original members of the choir, who have been singing together for more than 25 years. Our recent competition successes include winning the Barnardo's National Choir competition in March 2013 and the ladies choir, folk and popular music cLasses and runner-up with distinction in the sacred music cLass in the 2012 Mid-Somerset Festival.
