Its mission is to enrich, inspire, motivate and engage the Children, not only of the church, but the entire Barracks community in sacred songs among other value oriented musical works which have positive, uplifting and inspirational messages. It's the group's vision to inspire a life-long love for good music and church leadership in the young singers through the pursuit and enjoyment of musical and other artistic excellence. Children from ages 6 to 18 residing in Accra with consent from guardians are given the opportunity to join through auditioning. Its membership currently stands at 65. The choir sings during communion and lead congregational singing during Sunday School anniversary. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult chorus...  moreThe Surrey Children's Choir family represents 3 choirs, a Junior Training Choir, an Intermediate Training Choir, and the Senior Surrey Children's Choir. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult chorus, and a community adult chorus. The Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (JTC and ITC) provide a program of sequentially developed skills which prepare choristers for admission into the Surrey Children's Choir. The training choirs perform annually at the Family Christmas Concert and Year End concert (held in May of each year). They also often compete at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, always with great results. The training choirs may also perform at various events in the community. The SCC, a treble-voice choir of boys and girls aged 12-18 is a consistent gold medal winner at local festivals, hailed by Gerald Van Wyck, Vancouver Community College professor as "one of the best Children's choirs in Canada".
